4 weeks ago I took a tumble on my back step at home resulting in a fracture of my Fibula and leaving me feeling very battered and bruised. Not being able to weight bare a pair of crutches has become my best friend.
My poor darling husband has been a god send cooking, cleaning and before my moon boot he was even helping with my hygiene routine. With work calling him off to Europe I’ve relocated to my mother’s and the thought of sitting doing nothing was not an attractive offer. Set up on a small folding table in the living room of my mother’s house I managed to get 20 or so cards made (doing multiples of the same designs) yesterday.
I’d packed an extra small suit case (19kg to be exact) with my card making supplies. Now, I am not just a crafter but also a hoarder and have next to all tool products that Stampin’ Up! has ever released. The hardest decision was not what I would take but what was I leaving behind!
I knew I wanted to focus on making Christmas cards so one of the DSP packs I chose to pack was Merry Moments Designer Series Paper from page 143 of the Annual Catalogue. When it came to deciding what cardstock to take it couldn’t have been easier as each Designer Series Paper pack has a list of the coordinates colours and there is also the option of coordinating cardstock pre-packaged for your convience. Of course I also packed A4 packs of Whisper White and Basic Black.
I love all the ink pads that Stampin’ Up! have in their colour families but I could pack all of them. So, instead I packed only my..
When it came to colouring a stamp I used the ‘apply directly’ method with my Stampin’ Write Markers. This works best with smaller detailed or word stamps. Solid area stamps work but not if you want perfect and consistant coverage.
Embellishments was a bit tougher but again I just stuck with colours the coordinate with the DSP as well as the in disposable Rhinestone Basic Jewels and Pearl Basic Jewels. Ribbon is a great way to add some great dimension to your project and remember if you don’t have the matching ribbon then use your Stampin’ Write Markers and colour your white ribbon. I was recently in a Ribbon share for the Holiday Catalogue and this has been perfect as I have a bag with just a metre or two each. I also packed other bits and bobs such as Brads and Buttons .
…and of course 30 or so Stampin’ Up! Stamp Sets. I love that there is an option of Clear Mount and Wood Mount. With stamp sets stored in great CD cases making it easier (and lighter) to store and have great visual aid to find them quickly on the shelf.
